With a bigger story (okay, some of it re-used) and more characters and a better playground for Kevin, Home Alone 2 manages to be a superior sequel.

This Home Alone 2 quote really sums up how comically absurd the franchise is with its traps and high jinks. Kevin even manages to outsmart an entire hotel staff, causing them to make fools of themselves. It's a funny scenario and shows just how much of a cruel genius Kevin actually is. Buzz is one of the best characters from the Home Alone movies thanks in large part to the performance of Devin Ratray in the first two movies, and he's also one of the few characters to appear in multiple sequels. Ratray returned to the role in Home Sweet Home Alone and even makes a reference to this line, showing how iconic it's become within the franchise. This line is an extension of the classic "Merry Christmas ya filthy animal" from the previous movie, adding a little extra Happy New Year part in keeping with the film's goal of making everything from Home Alone even bigger.
